Ford has announced the 2022 E-Transit van range with the key feature of being 100% electric, as well as adding new software solutions, services such as the ability to plug in and charge tools without the need for an inverter (Pro Power Onboard). E-Transit is part of Ford's investment in electrification of more than $11.5 billion through 2022. Ford aims to achieve global carbon neutrality by 2050.

"Ford is a leader in commercial trucks and vans in North America and Europe, so transitioning fleet vehicles to zero emissions, especially for the fast-growing last mile delivery segment, is critical to achieving our goal of carbon neutrality by 2050", said Jim Farley, Ford president and CEO.

"Ford is poised to lead the charge, starting with the all-electric Transit and all-electric F-150 on the way. This is good for the planet and a great advantage for customers to help reduce their operating costs and provide connected fleet management technologies that will help their businesses", continued.

E-Transit offers the same interior load dimensions and standard mounting points for seamless integration with hundreds of bodybuilders and vehicle modifiers worldwide that provide compatible racks, containers and accessories on today's gasoline/diesel powered Transit.

"We are doubling down on software and digital services to help our fleet customers grow and run their businesses more efficiently", said Farley.

Ford - which is the leading commercial vehicle brand in North America and Europe - has been making Transit family vehicles for 55 years and commercial vehicles since 1905. The company will assemble E-Transit for North American customers at the Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo, Missouri, and for European customers at Ford's Otosan Kocaeli plant in Turkey on a dedicated line alongside the award-winning Transit Custom Plug-in Hybrid.

"More construction, emergency and utility vehicles choose Ford commercial trucks and vans over any other manufacturer and we are committed to helping customers make the transition to zero-emission technology", said Hau Thai-Tang, chief operating officer of Ford's product platform.

"E-Transit is a connected, data-rich platform that will help our fleet customers achieve greater productivity. The value to our commercial customers grows over time as more connected vehicles join the network", added Hau Thai-Tang.

The new all-electric Mustang Mach-E begins arriving later this year, while the all-electric F-150 begins arriving in dealerships in mid-2022.

In North America, Ford is the first full-line automaker to announce plans to produce both a full-size all-electric van and a full-size van for customers - including fleet owners.

In Europe, Ford has been testing electrified commercial vehicle technology since 2018, working with officials in England, Germany, Spain and Turkey to study how drivers were using Transit's customised plug-in hybrid vehicles in London, Cologne, Valencia and Ankara.

Ford is the only full-line US automaker committed to doing its part to reduce CO2 emissions in line with the Paris Climate Agreement and working with California to achieve stronger greenhouse gas standards for vehicles.

With a usable battery capacity of 67kWh, the E-Transit offers an estimated driving range of up to 217 miles (349km) on the WLTP combined cycle, providing enough range to meet daily needs, but with enough extra capacity to allow for variations in vehicle load and weather conditions.

E-Transit is designed with input from 30 million miles (48 million km) of customer telematics data to offer the right amount of range based on fleet needs - at a price that makes it easy to switch to electric - and Ford says E-Transit will offer an estimated range of 126 miles (202km) in the low-roof cargo van variant.
