First figures for Motorhome and Caravan registrations 2022

La CIVD has updated the figures for motorhome and caravan registrations in Germany up to February 2022 and the figures continue to be very good, after the Christmas break they have grown again in February while waiting to see how the current negative economic situation influences, the impact of which will surely be visible before the end of the year.

Chassis and materials

It should be noted that manufacturers have achieved this increase despite the supply problems of recent years, both for base vehicles and for all types of materials. Let us recall strategies such as Hymer, which has begun to diversify its base chassis purchasing with a large contract with Ford.

Caravans

Caravans have performed particularly well, they had lost steam in 2021, but with the 23% increase in January they have continued to rise by 26% in February reaching 1,630 vehicles. Even with this latest rise, the 2019/2020 peak has not been able to be matched again being already 22% below at present and will certainly not be matched for quite some time.

Motorhomes

Motorhome registrations also increased in February, so much so that the second best result ever was achieved in this month, 5018 vehicles put into circulation which is 1.7% above February 2021. The cumulative Sep-Feb 2021 over 2022 is still down 5%.

The following 2022 updates will be very interesting to know if the industry manages to counteract the headwind of the economic situation.
